The casework may be constructed of a number of woods although hardwoods are recommended. Clear #1 Eastern pine also works well for the casework though it's prone to dings. A hardwood top is recommended. Mixing and matching woods for the top, sides, drawer fronts, knobs and pegs will give a wide variety of interesting looks. Cabinet sides are joined using butterfly joints. Drawer interiors are preferably constructed of clear #1 Eastern pine or basswood. Drawer bottoms may be made of pine, poplar, or aromatic red cedar. All surfaces, inside and out are finely sanded and finished with a special mixture urethane and oils, then waxed to a smooth sheen. The drawers are finished to perfection, allowing them to slide freely with an almost airtight fit.
Apothecary/ Cd Chest Pricing Guidelines:
The price is $175.00 X (the number of drawers). For example, a twenty drawer chest would be $3500 plus shipping. This may vary somewhat depending on the kinds of woods used.
All apothecary chests are made at a standard 10" - 12" depth, front to back. Chest depth may be up to 18" or sometimes deeper for special orders. If you want a deeper cabinet than 12" , you may calculate the additional cost by adding an extra $125.00 per inch of cabinet depth greater than 12". For small cabinets add $50 per inch extra.
There is also an additional $150 crating charge for truck shipping when necessary. This covers the cost of building a very solid wooden crate to prevent damage during shipping.
